About This Weather Station

Observations are powered by Vantage Pro 2

Welcome to OscarAndDeb Weather!

Hi Everyone,

My thanks to Mark Teel (wview), Tom Keffer (weewx), Pat O’Brian (belchertown skin), Mark Wall (MQTT) and others. Their software has been the basis of the web site. The first software was wview. Mark decided to move to a different project and on December 31, 2016, the site converted to weewx. The belchertown skin was added January 15, 2021 to provide the real time feed. Over the years I’ve made a number of "tweaks" to the design.
Without Deb, the gentlemen above their teams/supporters, the website wouldn’t exist.

To get an accurate wind reading, the anemometer should be located 15 feet from any obstruction in any direction. The anemometer is installed at the roof peak and reflects the wind hitting the house, so may not reflect the actual wind speed.

This station uses a Vantage Pro2, controlled by 'WeeWx' using the modified Belchertown theme. WeeWX is a free, open source, software program, written in Python, which interacts with the weather station. The belchertown skin generates the graphs, reports, and HTML pages.

Data from the weather station is collected every two seconds and processed on a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (8 GB) computer running Raspberry Pi Linux. "weewx" software processes the information and is copied to the web site every five minutes.

Data from this weather station is sent to the following weather networks:
  1. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP). Id is CW5066 .
  2. Wunderground Weather Network. Id is KCOBLACK5 .
  3. PWSWeather.com Id is KCOBLACK1 .
  4. AWEKAS Automatic Weather Map System .
  5. Met Office WOW (WeatherObervationsWebsite) Station 926216001 .

Thanks to Deb for the weather station.
Love you Sweetie!
